Taco Mac’s Brewniversity is a loyalty program dedicated to the exploration and enjoyment of craft beers and has encouraged member Augie Olsen, a 19-year patron of Taco Mac, to better the community. Olsen has achieved “Beer God” status after earning 5,000 Brewniversity credits, and his reward is a trip to Oktoberfest in Germany. As a U.S. Navy veteran, Olsen is committed to giving back to uniformed servants while increasing awareness for community non-profit organizations.

On Jan. 26, Olsen and some fellow Brewniversity members are teaming up to celebrate their Brewniversity milestones and host a fundraiser for Our Pal’s Place, a pet adoption facility and education center where Olsen and his wife are active volunteers. During the fundraiser, Olsen will raffle off his trip to Germany to a Brewniversity member who is either a uniformed public servant or active in the military. Those who wish to enter the drawing must introduce themselves to Olsen and show proof of service and their Brewniversity membership information. Olsen will draw a name at 8 p.m.; entrants do not have to be present during drawing in order to win.

The fundraising event will also include a shrimp boil and live music. Additionally, Olsen’s personal quilt made out of 40 Taco Mac t-shirts will be on display for guests to view. A portion of proceeds from the shrimp boil and Brewniversity beer credits will be donated to Our Pal’s Place, and a collection bucket will also be on site for cash donations.

Olsen has a history of giving back; in 2018, he donated the trip to the Great American Beer Festival that he received when reaching the “Platinum Chancellor” level of the Brewniversity program by earning 3,000 credits.
