Taco Mac Announces Closure of Original Virginia-Highlands Location
May 12, 2025Brand Focuses on Continued Growth Across the Southeast
Atlanta, GA (May 12, 2025) Taco Mac, a beloved staple of Atlanta’s dining and sports bar scene since 1979, today announced the closure of its original location in Virginia-Highlands. After more than four decades of unforgettable memories, ice-cold beer, and countless wings served, this location has closed its doors as the company continues to grow across the Southeast.
“We are incredibly proud of what began in Virginia-Highlands 46 years ago. As we continue to evolve and grow, a part of our hearts will always remain on the corner of N. Highland and Virginia,” said Harold Martin, CEO of Taco Mac.
This neighborhood restaurant gave birth to a brand that now includes 28 locations and counting — including new locations in Macon, Georgia, Pelham, Alabama, and most recently, Conyers, Georgia. We’re thankful to the guests and team members who helped build the foundation of Taco Mac.
The closure reflects a thoughtful evolution of Taco Mac’s long-term strategy. As the company expands, it continues to invest in new markets, elevate guest experience, and deliver on its promise of legendary hospitality and game day energy. With 28 locations, Taco Mac remains a top destination in the region for wings, beer, and catching the big game with friends and family.
“This isn’t the end of the story — it’s a milestone in our journey,” Martin added. “We’re deeply grateful for our roots in the Virginia-Highlands neighborhood in Atlanta, Georgia, and we’re more excited than ever for what’s ahead.
Taco Mac will transition this space to Jack Brown’s Beer & Burger Joint.
Team members impacted by the closure have been offered positions at nearby Taco Mac restaurants. Guests are encouraged to visit other locations across Atlanta to enjoy the same great wings, beer, and lively sports atmosphere that define the Taco Mac experience.
Taco Mac will celebrate the legacy of its original restaurant by sharing guest memories and historic moments on social media. Fans are invited to share their own stories using the hashtag #TacoMacBeginnings.
