Atlanta Braves Partner with Taco Mac to host an equipment drive as a part of their Grow the Game initiative

July 16, 2019

The Atlanta Braves have partnered with Taco Mac to host an equipment drive in efforts to grow the game of youth baseball and softball throughout Braves Country. All Taco Mac locations in Georgia, as well as the Chattanooga, Tenn. location, will accept donations through August 18.

Donations of new or gently used baseball or softball equipment including helmets, bats, mitts, cleats, catching equipment or uniforms will benefit youth programs and children in need across Braves Country. Items will be collected in co-branded Braves and Taco Mac equipment drive bins at participating locations.

“As an organization, we are proud to grow the game of baseball and softball by creating opportunities for youth athletes in Braves Country to play the sport,” said Derek Schiller, President and CEO of the Atlanta Braves. “With the support of Taco Mac, we are able to provide resources to help even more youth athletes play and hopefully inspire a lifelong passion for the game.”

“Taco Mac is proud to partner with the Atlanta Braves to support their efforts to grow youth baseball in Georgia through their Grow the Game initiative,” said Harold Martin, Jr., CEO of Taco Mac. “Sports are in our DNA at Taco Mac, so it’s a natural fit for us to partner on this equipment drive and help the families we serve across the state participate in and appreciate this all-American sport.”

In May, the Braves hosted over 60 youth baseball teams for the Braves Country Battles: Georgia presented by Taco Mac in Alpharetta, Ga. All proceeds from the tournament were reinvested in the local community to help grow the game through free clinics, uniform and equipment grants as well as donations, and field refurbishments.

In addition to the equipment drive, Braves and Taco Mac will recognize players and coaches each month beginning in August. The year-round program will recognize players and coaches throughout Braves Country in recreational baseball and softball, travel baseball and softball, and high school baseball and softball. Nominations for Player and Coach of the Month are accepted at braves.com/playerofthemonth and braves.com/coachofthemonth. Award recipients will receive a special offer from Taco Mac and the Braves.
