We won the 2017 Burger Wars!
Taco Mac Beverage Director, Adam Anacker, gives us his candid insight on Taco Mac’s happenings throughout the South.
Man, it was an awesome Saturday for Taco Mac because we took first place in the 2017 Burger Wars. And this isn’t just some ribbon and we go home; we actually won the Judge’s Choice Winner and Grand Prize Winner! What does that get us? The “Golden Ticket,” and I’m not talking Willy Wonka’s unlimited chocolate and a tour of the factory, folks. Instead, we, along with our BBQ Blues Burger Stax, will be heading on an all-expenses paid trip to the World Food Championships in Orange Beach, Alabama this November! [November 8th through the 14th to be exact.] Now that’s what I called gold! What’s even cooler is that the Food Network filmed the entire event and will show us serving up our lip-smacking burger on national television in September.
This annual event took place outdoors at the Atlanta Motor Speedway in Hampton, GA, and we went up against some serious competition including all kinds of chefs and restaurants throughout Georgia. There was even a participant who placed 10th out of 1200 contestants worldwide in the World Food Championships last year. That didn’t shake our confidence though. We brought our A game to the table and cooked with heart and determination. Plus, we know our burgers at Taco mac and came with a strategy: Put together a unique burger with a balance of flavors, texture and the overall desire for a second, third, and fourth bite. That meant a double-stack of quarter-pounders jazzed up with crispy bacon, blue cheese, hickory honey BBQ sauce made in house, arugula, some horseradish to spice it up, and our secret weapon—Maker’s Mark and Coca-Cola sautéed onions—on a fresh onion roll. Now tell me you ain’t droolin’!
So anyway, root for us in November. I will be heading back to my home state of Alabama for the WFC, so the force will be with us! (Roll Tide!)
Oh, and a shout out to my team members Emily, Kelli, and Devin from our Newnan site who also represented Taco Mac at the Burger Wars. We all took advantage of the opportunity to spread the word about out all-new McDonough Taco Mac opening up this weekend, too.
Overall, this has been an awesome 2017 for Taco Mac so far and I am happy to share my experiences with you in Keg of Knowledge! Look for more news soon and thank you for supporting us!
